MedArtSal

The project MedArtSal aims to promote the sustainable development of the Artisanal Salinas, providing concrete support on economic, environmental and governance issues. Addressing common challenges in four Mediterranean regions (Italy, Spain, Lebanon and Tunisia), will promote the development of a sustainable and adaptable management model fostering the territorial valorization of artisanal salinas.

MedArtSal model will represent an innovative solution and will provide innovative sustainable actions for salinas, providing a sound operational support and specific guidance on the best development strategy compared to the features and needs of the area. The model is made up of the combination of good practices, commerce, biodiversity and ecosystem service preservation, as well as other services.

There are several salinas behind the MedArtSal project, all of them recognized for their more traditional salt harvesting methods, as our most remote ancestors did.
